JCB’s giant ‘Backhoe in a Box’ display is heading to The British Motor Show 2026, giving visitors the opportunity to see the unique installation in person as part of their 80th anniversary celebrations.

The striking display turns a full-size JCB 3CX Sitemaster backhoe loader into a giant boxed toy installation. Standing almost 15 feet high and nearly 25 feet wide, the feature takes inspiration from the familiar 1:32-scale JCB replica models, presenting the eight-tonne machine as though it were sitting on a toy shop shelf.

The touring Backhoe in a Box also marks a significant milestone in JCB’s history, with more than one million replica models of its machines produced under TOMY’s Britains brand. The achievement celebrates almost 60 years of partnership between the two companies.

After beginning the year on display beside the lake at JCB’s World Headquarters in Rocester during January, the giant ‘Backhoe in a Box’ has toured the UK, appearing at King’s Cross Station, Cheltenham Racecourse, the JCB World Parts Centre and Hillhead 2026. Its next stop will be The British Motor Show in Farnborough, taking place from 21–23 August 2026.

Visitors to the show will be able to get up close to the display, take photographs and experience one of JCB’s most recognisable machines in a completely different way. The installation joins a packed programme of automotive displays, live action and family entertainment across the three-day event.

Visitors can save up to 20% with Advanced Tickets to The British Motor Show, while under-17s go free with a paying adult. VIP tickets are also available, offering exclusive access and premium experiences throughout the show.
